Olbers' Paradox

Diligent students find eight
out of ten texts still answer

Heinrich's Newtonian
challenge, incorrectly -- Why,

he asked, is the night sky black?
Before he died, Poe penned

an answer in Eureka: when you
gaze skyward into the heavens

expecting uniform luminosity
and instead, great voids appear

between stars, it's because you stare
into the immense distance

of a yet-to-be-illuminated past.
